Formalities.

There is a simple process involved in "getting married"

Prior to the wedding we will meet and together fill out and sign the Notice of Intended Marriage Form. This form must be completed no less than 1 month and I day prior to your wedding and can be done up to 18 months in advance. Both of you will also need to sign a Declaration of Marriage Form, declaring that there is no legal impediment to your marriage - this is done at our rehearsal.

You will need to supply me with the following documentation before I can proceed with conducting your marriage;

  • Birth Certificate for each of you
  • A Passport, if you are a citizen of a country other than Australia
  • A Statutory Declaration if you were born overseas and have no record of your birth [or lost your documentation]
  • Evidence of your Divorce if you have been married previously [a Decree Absolute ]
  • If your previous spouse has passed away, you will need to bring along the Death Certificate
  • If you are under 18 years of age, you will need to provide your parents consent and an order from a Magistrate.

Remember that on the day of your marriage, you will need two witnesses to sign the Registry and Certificate Of Marriage - they will both need to be over the age of 18. They do not necessarily have to be in the bridal party.

When we meet to make the booking, we will fill out the marriage booking form which helps me to understand all of your details and the aspirations you have for your wedding day. This will help me to fully understand all of the details on the day. Our first meeting takes approximately 45 minutes and is by appointment only.
